Duke NguyenDuke Nguyen (- 'Wynn' -) writes and writes and writes. And sometimes he illustrates. But mostly he writes. For instance, he wrote 'Elmer the Dog'. A fun multi-cultural picture book based on his experience as a child of mixed ethnicity. 'Elmer' has received glowing reviews nationally from children and librarians alike, including the most important librarian Duke knows, his mom. Besides 'Elmer', Duke also wrote, 'If A Carrot and A Lettuce Raced' for the anthology, 'Eric Kimmel presents: The Rolling Stone and Other Read Aloud Stories'. Currently, Duke has two books in the process of being illustrated, the chapter book, 'Woody, Duke and Dave' and the picture book, 'Ack-Ack the Cat'. Duke also worked as an award-winning advertising writer in New York and San Francisco and has penned over 20 national television commercials, written comedy skits for professional comedy troupes in NYC and currently has an animated short in production for the WB Network. Born and raised in Texas to an American mother and a Vietnamese father, Duke overcame oppressive Houston humidity and brief childhood career aspirations such as superhero, fireman, garbage man, dentist and ace Air Force pilot to graduate from The Univeristy of Texas at Austin with a degree in advertising. Oh, and besides all that writing and growing up, Duke also has found the time to co-illustrate four books with his childhood pal and bestest buddy, Vuthy Kuon.View Details
